K-3 Program
The Vichy Alternative program was established to provide active parent participation and a highly enriched environment for students from grades K-3. Some of the program highlights include:
Four dedicated teachers who provide specialized instruction in their curriculum focus area and interact with each student throughout their four years in the program. This approach provides security and continuity to students as well as takes advantage of teacher expertise. |
Adjoining classrooms and cross-grade interaction. |
A balanced and integrated curriculum which includes music and performing arts, technology, an arts program, physical education, field trips, and educational assemblies. |
Active parent participation. Parents make a commitment to work in the classroom two to three mornings per month. This reduces the student-adult ratio, allows parents to become acquainted with the curriculum, and enhances learning to ensure success. Parents are also encouraged to participate in other student enrichment activities. |
A highly involved Parent Club which dedicates additional funds and resources to each classroom such as a reading specialist, an art teacher, and additional instructional materials. |
.
4-5 Program
Upon entering 4th grade, Alternative Program students become Alternative Alumni, and integrate with Vichy School's Traditional Program students. Vichy's outstanding upper grade program builds on concepts and skills learned in the primary grades of both programs, successfully preparing students for middle school.
Alternative Alumni continue to have an open invitation to participate in Alternative family activities and events.Younger siblings of Alternative Program students and alumni are given priority for Alternative kindergarten placement.
